MATTHEW DeROSA ELECTED NEW IBHE STUDENT MEMBER
SPRINGFIELD - Matthew DeRosa, who will enter the University
of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign next year to study political science,
has been elected as the next student member of the Illinois Board
of Higher Education (IBHE).
DeRosa was chosen by the Board's Student Advisory Committee to succeed
Mark Weber who will complete his term as the student representative
at the IBHE June meeting in Chicago.
"I feel honored to be elected by my fellow students and am
grateful for their expression of confidence," DeRosa said.
"I look forward to serving on the Board of Higher Education
and presenting the student voice on important issues such as affordability."
DeRosa is presently a student at Parkland College in Champaign where
he serves as president of the student government. He has held a
variety of positions in the Student Advisory Committee.
He also is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the community college National
Honor Society. He lives in Rantoul.
